According to experts, the Earth’s crust is made up of three large plates. The first layer is called Eurasian, the second Indian, and the third Arabian.

When heat accumulates underground, these plates shift. The Earth shakes, and this condition is called earthquake.

Earthquake waves spread in all directions in a circular pattern. Earthquakes or volcanic eruptions are more common in areas located at the confluence of these plates.

Experts say if a major earthquake occurs in an area once, another major earthquake can occur there again.

An earthquake occurs due to the sudden release of energy from the Earth’s crust, which often appears on the Earth’s surface in the form of volcanic lava.

More than 80% of the world’s earthquakes occur along the Pacific Rim, known as the Ring of Fire. This is because there is a lot of volcanic activity deep within the Earth there.
