Weather: Dense fog, rain, snowfall forecast in parts of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast dense fog, rain, and snowfall in parts of the country over the coming days, as a new spell of winter weather affects upper and plain regions.

According to the Met Dept, changing weather conditions are expected throughout mid-December.

The Department said that rain and snowfall are likely in the upper areas of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa from December 13 to 15 adding the changing weather may impact travel and daily life in mountainous districts.

Residents have been advised to stay alert to local conditions during this period.

GB, Kashmir to experience wet weather

During the same period, rain and snowfall are also expected in some areas of Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.

These areas may experience typical winter conditions as the system moves to northern parts of the country. Cold temperatures and reduced visibility are expected in higher elevations, said the Met office.

The Met office has also predicted rain and snowfall in various districts of Balochistan from December 14 to 15.

The weather system is expected to bring relief to some areas while also creating challenges in others due to colder conditions.

Wet weather is also forecast for northern region of the country, with drizzle expected in Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Peshawar in the coming days. Meanwhile, Murree is likely to experience light rain and snowfall during this spell.

Heavy fog to affect plains of Punjab, KP, Sindh

Dense fog is expected to affect daily life in the plain areas of Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and upper Sindh.

The PMD has warned that fog may reduce visibility during early morning and nighttime. Commuters have been advised to exercise caution while traveling on highways.

The Meteorological Department also forecast that another series of westerly winds is likely to enter the country from December which could bring further rain and snowfall to northern and western parts of the country.
