HAJIRA (Kashmir English): Director General Special Communications Organization (SCO), Major General Umar Ahmed Shah, has inaugurated a Software Technology Park (STP) in Tehsil Hajira of Poonch, and launched Freelancing Hubs in Baloch and Tararkhal areas of Sudhanoti.
Addressing the ceremony, the DG SCO has said that the process of fulfilling promises and building dreams is moving forward, as the organization continues to expand digital opportunities for the youth of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) in line with the vision of Field Marshal Asim Munir.
The ceremony was attended by Commissioner Poonch Division Chaudhry Mukhtar Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Principal Government Boys College, Hajira Muhammad Latif Khan, and a large number of dignitaries of the area. DGSCO took a detailed review of the facilities on this occasion and met with local youth, freelancers, and dignitaries.
On the arrival of DG SCO, Commander 2 AK Brigade Commanding Officer 61 Signals Battalion, district representatives, and the project team welcomed him and gave him a detailed briefing on the establishment of STP Hajira, capacity building, training programs, and digital facilities introduced for the youth.
The establishment of a modern technology center in a sensitive and mountainous area like Hajira is a continuation of the mission of SCO, under which the administration has established 100 Software Technology Parks and Freelancing Hubs (FLHs) in AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan.
After the inauguration, the Director General of SCO toured various parts of the park, including the training lab, co-working space, high-speed connectivity systems, and a dedicated work area for women. He interacted informally with the youth participating in the training programs, viewed their projects, and appreciated their commitment. Local dignitaries also termed the project an unprecedented initiative for the economic and social development of the region.
Freelancers said that the modern bandwidth, uninterrupted power supply, and secure environment have significantly improved their performance and connectivity with global clients. He termed the Software Technology Park as a “game changer” for the youth of Hijra.
Speaking on the occasion, Major General Umar Ahmad Shah HI(M) said that STPs aim to empower the youth and bring these remote areas into the mainstream of Digital Pakistan. He vowed that SCO will continue to establish more such centers for the youth so that the region can play its full role in IT and the digital economy.
