ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The National Institute of Health (NIH) has warned that smog is likely to spread respiratory diseases, urging the health departments, authorities, and experts across the country to take necessary measures regarding smog.

This warning aims to inform citizens about weather conditions, air pollution, and the risks associated with it so that people living in affected areas can take timely precautions.

According to sources, the National Institute of Health has issued an advisory regarding prevention and precautionary measures against smog (air pollution).

The agency says that due to the current weather conditions and air pollution, an increase in the effects of smog is being recorded, which may pose serious risks to public health.

The advisory states that in the cold season, ‘smog’ can seriously affect human health from this month to February, and the combination of toxic substances in the air and cold will cause the spread of pneumonia.

This situation has created concern among citizens because an increase in pneumonia, respiratory, and other seasonal diseases is commonly seen during smog.

The advisory issued regarding the harms of smog further states that smog will severely affect health, economy, and quality of life, and smog can lead to many types of crises, including environmental pollution, respiratory diseases, and heart diseases.

According to experts, during air pollution, not only do respiratory diseases increase, but this situation becomes more dangerous for vulnerable people.

According to the advisory, air pollution poses a greater risk to children, the elderly, and the already ill. People who already have health problems need to take special precautions to avoid any complications.

The National Institute of Health has said that the cities of Lahore, Multan, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad in Punjab are at high risk of smog, especially in Lahore, where air pollution is the highest, and citizens need to be more careful. People living in these areas have been asked to be careful in outdoor activities.

The advisory states that health departments, authorities, and experts across the country should take necessary steps regarding smog, children should avoid staying outside for long periods, and adults and children should use face masks in affected areas. These measures have been declared essential for protecting health during smog.
