ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Authorities have closed the motorway connecting Peshawar and Rashakai due to dense fog and severely reduced visibility.
According to media reports, the closure aims to prevent accidents. The motorway police spokesperson has advised the commuters to avoid unnecessary journeys during foggy conditions.
Drivers should use fog lights in their vehicles, avoid speeding, and maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead, he added.
The closure is a safety measure to prevent accidents caused by near-zero visibility conditions.
Motorway police advisory
Authorities, including the National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP), have advised drivers to avoid unnecessary travel during foggy periods.
The drives have been asked to use fog lights (front and back) when traveling is essential, avoid over-speeding and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles.
The general public is advised to stay updated on traffic conditions before starting their journey and information can be obtained through the NHMP Helpline 130.
This is a recurring situation during the foggy season in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and other plain areas of the country.
