WASHINGTON, DC (Kashmir English): In a groundbreaking move, the United States Congress report has acknowledged Pakistan’s victory over India in a May four-day conflict, highlighting the significant role of Chinese-supplied weaponry in the success.

The report states that Pakistan used Chinese weapons to down French-made Rafale aircraft, and following Pakistan’s success, Indonesia reportedly halted its purchase of Rafale jets.

The US Congress report said that Pakistan relied on advanced military technology, missile systems, and intelligence support provided by China in this fight.

According to the commission, several modern Chinese weapons were tested in practical combat for the first time, including the HQ 9 missile system, PL 15 air-to-air missiles and J 10C fighter jets.

The report also said that Pakistan used the same weapons to shoot down Indian warplanes, including Rafale jets, although there are different accounts of the final number.

The Indian military alleged that China provided Pakistan with direct information on 109 Indian military locations during the war, but both Pakistan and China rejected this claim.

Nevertheless, the commission called Chinese support fundamental to Pakistan’s success.

According to the report, the international reputation of the Rafale aircraft was affected after Pakistan’s successful operations and as a result, Indonesia stopped the proposed purchase of these aircraft.

The report further said that China used this situation to its advantage after the war to market its defense system, and Chinese embassies highlighted the performance of its weapons.

According to French intelligence, China also launched an online campaign against Rafale through content generated by artificial intelligence.

The report pointed out that China has been meeting about 82 percent of Pakistan’s defense needs from 2019 to 2023. After the war, Pakistan also increased its defense budget by 20 percent to $9 billion.

The report said that in June 2025, China also offered to provide Pakistan with 40 J-35 fighter jets, JK-500 AWACS systems and advanced missile defense systems.

According to the report, India used Rafale and Russian aircraft in the May war, but did not make its losses public.

The report said that Indian officials later claimed that they shot down Pakistani F-16 and Chinese-made fighter jets, but no evidence was presented in this regard.

The commission said that Pakistan had claimed to have shot down at least 6 Indian aircraft, while the possibility of losing 3 aircraft was shown to be more likely.

During the war, China had appealed for restraint, but it neither took any position on the Pakistani claims nor reacted to the US report. No official statement was made by India regarding the Congressional report either.
