ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Central Executive Committee (CEC) agrees to support the proposed amendment to Article 243 of the Constitution in the proposed 27th Constitutional Amendment.
The PPP will further discuss the other amendments to the proposed amendment tomorrow.
The PPP CEC was held under the chairmanship of Bilawal Bhutto to discuss the proposed 27th Constitutional Amendment.
After the meeting, Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto said in a press briefing that a delegation of the PML-N came to the PPP and asked for support for the 27th Constitutional Amendment.
The 27th Amendment contained proposals related to the Constitutional Court, NFC, Education, Pollution Planning, Executive Magistracy, Judges Transfer, and the Election Commission.
Bilawal Bhutto said that the government has planned to make changes in Article 243, and the Central Executive Committee has supported only this amendment.
Bilawal Bhutto said that the PPP rejects the clause related to provincial share and is not ready to support this proposal under any circumstances.
The remaining points of the 27th Amendment proposal, including the change in the NFC formula, have also been completely rejected.
Talking about the establishment of the Constitutional Court, Bilawal Bhutto said that the Charter of Democracy stated that there should be a Constitutional Court, but there were other things in the Charter of Democracy as well.
The opinion on the Constitutional Court is that all four provinces should have equal representation.
He said that the CEC meeting in this regard will be held today after Friday prayers, in which the final decision will be taken on the constitutional court.
The meeting is being attended by the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chief Minister, members of the National and Provincial Assemblies, and leaders, in addition to President Asif Ali Zardari.
