ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): After a disruption for short time of period, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has gradually begun reinstituting its flight operations due to an ongoing impasse with the airline’s aeronautical engineers.
The management announced that alternative arrangements had been made, allowing flights to depart again.
On Monday, it successfully operated its flights PK 245 from Islamabad to Dammam and PK 761 from Islamabad to Jeddah. The airline further said that clearance for the rest of the affected flights was being expedited, and the operations would be restored to normal gradually.
PIA’s management has clarified in a statement that no one would be permitted at the airport to create further disruption or obstruct the departure of flights, thus causing extra difficulties to the passengers.
The operational suspension started a day earlier when a dispute broke out between PIA’s aircraft engineers and the management of the airline. The engineers, who were protesting against the behavior of PIA’s CEO, had stopped the clearance of aircraft, resulting in multiple flights being grounded.
Consequently, 12 PIA international flights that were to depart after 8 PM did not take off and created immense problems for passengers, particularly for those traveling for Umrah.
The Society of Aircraft Engineers has stated that it will not resume work until the airline’s CEO addresses its concerns about his conduct.
The management at PIA is doing all it can to resolve this issue, despite the odds, and to get those passengers whose journeys were disrupted flying again as soon as possible.
