KABUL (Kashmir English): The Afghan Taliban have prevented former Prime Minister and head of Hizb-e-Islami, Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, from traveling abroad.

Gulbuddin Hekmatyar’s son, Habib-ur-Rehman Hekmatyar, claimed that the Taliban government did not allow his father to travel abroad.

According to foreign media, Habib-ur-Rehman wrote on the social networking website X that the Taliban are not only obstructing Gulbuddin Hekmatyar’s meetings with the public but are also ‘frightened’ by these meetings and consider them ‘dangerous’.

He said that the Taliban appeal to other political leaders to return to the country and claim that they guarantee their safety, but they imposed a “ban on my father’s travel abroad”.

Habib-ur-Rehman Hekmatyar said, “Is the Taliban’s goal that all leaders return so that they can impose restrictions on their meetings, activities, and travel?”

According to media reports, for the past four years, the Taliban government has imposed strict restrictions on political leaders, former government officials, and tribal elders, and most of them are not allowed to travel abroad.

No political party in Afghanistan

It should be noted that the Taliban have ended the activities of all political parties in Afghanistan and have officially banned any political gathering or organizational activity.
