OSLO (Kashmir English): The Nobel Peace Prize 2025 has been awarded to Maria Corina Machado here on Friday, October 10, 2025.
According to the Norwegian Nobel Committee, Machado was awarded this honor in recognition of her struggle to promote the democratic rights of the Venezuelan people and for a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy.
It should be noted that the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded to individuals or institutions who have played an outstanding role in promoting brotherhood between nations, reducing or eliminating military conflicts, and establishing world peace.
This Nobel Prize is awarded in memory of Swedish businessman Alfred Nobel, who invented dynamite. He deposited almost all of his wealth into a fund so that these prizes could be distributed. The Nobel Prizes were first awarded in 1901.
US President Trump’s nomination and support:
US President Donald Trump was also keen to win the Nobel Peace Prize and claimed that he had ended many wars and worked for international peace, so he should get this prize.
Pakistan also recognized US President Donald Trump’s efforts in stopping the Pakistan-India war and announced on June 20 that he deserved the Nobel Peace Prize.
Later, Israel, Cambodia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan also supported this honor for President Trump, but in the end, he could not get this prize.
The head of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, Jörgen Watten Fridense, while announcing the Nobel Peace Prize 2025, said that the Nobel Peace Prize is given to the pro-democracy leader of Venezuela, Maria Corina Machado.
