HAVELi (Kashmir English): The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Forward Kahuta on Monday sentenced two accused to life imprisonment for kidnapping a minor girl for ransom in 2024.
Judge Waseem Gilani sentenced Saboor Rathore and Shaiq Siddique case after being found guilty.
Two other accused were acquitted due to insufficient evidence and given the benefit of the doubt.
The case dates back to 2024, when a minor girl was abducted from her residence in Sehrian village in Haveli district, and the kidnappers demanded Rs6 million in ransom from the family.
Police launched swift action and arrested four suspects based on evidence gathered during the investigation.
Shockingly, it was revealed that one of the key perpetrators, Shaiq Siddique, was the victim’s maternal uncle, who conspired with his accomplice Saboor Rathore out of greed and financial gain.
The two planned and executed the kidnapping, demanding ransom from the family.
During the trial, strong evidence and witness statements were presented, leading the court to find both Siddique and Rathore guilty. The court, however, acquitted the remaining two accused due to a lack of sufficient proof.
Following the verdict, public circles lauded Judge Waseem Gilani, describing the decision as a clear example of justice, the rule of law, and merit-based judicial process.
