AJK High Court decides 6026 cases since June last year: Report

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The High Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has decided 6026 cases since June 1, 2025, while 48 public interest cases are under trial, according to the High Court’s performance report.

The report was submitted in the 18th meeting of the Judicial Policy Making Committee, which was held in the Supreme Court under the chairmanship of Chief Justice of AJK Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan, in which judges of the higher judiciary participated.

The committee directed that constitutional cases be heard under the High Court Chief Justice’s chairmanship, old cases be prioritized, and urgent decisions be made in national importance, tax, and financial cases.

It was also agreed to resolve the issue of delay in releasing prisoners despite completion of sentence in criminal cases and to formulate a procedure to present juvenile accused in the nearest court, the official statement said.

The meeting was also informed about the establishment of an Additional District Criminal Court in Barnala, maintaining the administrative powers of the judiciary, and the progress on the proposed amendments in various laws.
