Srilanka beat Afghanistan to enter Super 4 of Asia Cup 2025

ABU DHABI (Kashmir English): In the 11th match of the  T20 Asia Cup 2025, Sri Lanka defeated Afghanistan by 6 wickets, qualifying for the Super 4 stage.

In the match played in Abu Dhabi, batting first, Afghanistan scored 169 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.

Mohammad Nabi played a brilliant batting innings of 60 runs in just 22 balls, which included 3 fours and 6 sixes.

Captain Rashid Khan scored 24 runs while opener Ibrahim Zadran stood out with 24 runs. For Sri Lanka, Nuwan Thisara bowled brilliantly and took 4 wickets for 18 runs.

In pursuit of the target, the Sri Lankan batting line showed a strong performance. Wicketkeeper-batter Kusal Mendis remained unbeaten with 74 runs while Kamindu Mendis aggressively scored 26 runs.

Kusal Perera also played an innings of 28 runs. Sri Lanka achieved the target in 18.4 overs for the loss of 4 wickets.

Sri Lanka’s victory has moved them into the Super 4, while Afghanistan’s defeat has ended their Asia Cup journey. Bangladesh, along with Sri Lanka, have managed to make it to the Super 4 from Group B.
