TIRANA, Albania (Kashmir English): The 2027 Football Champions League final will be played at the Metropolitano Stadium in Spanish capital Madrid, European football’s governing body UEFA has announced.
The occasion will mark the second time that Atletico Madrid’s home stadium hosts the final of Europe’s elite club competition after Liverpool beat Tottenham Hotspur there back in 2019.
Azerbaijan’s capital Baku had been the other aspirant to host next season’s showpiece game, but UEFA opted for Madrid following a meeting of its executive committee here.
Budapest to host this season’s Champions League final
This season’s Champions League final will be played in Hungary’s Budapest on May 30, 2026.
UEFA also announced that the 2027 Women’s Champions League final will take place in Warsaw, while the Austrian city of Salzburg will be the venue for the UEFA Super Cup in 2026.
“The Riyad Air Metropolitano has been selected as the host for the 2027 Champions League final. Next season, our stadium will stage its second final of Europe’s premier club competition in less than a decade, following the previous one in 2019. This further cements its status as one of the world’s most significant sporting venues,” reads the official statement on Atlético de Madrid’s website, as the club celebrates UEFA’s decision.
