CALIFORNIA (Kashmir English): Apple has officially announced that its new mobile operating system, iOS 26, will be released to general users on September 15.
This update will be available simultaneously with watchOS 26, macOS Tahoe, iPadOS 26, and VisionOS 26.
Experts say that some users may experience delays in downloading the update due to unusual server traffic on the day of release.
The most striking feature of this new operating system is its modern ‘liquid glass’ design that introduces transparent and glass-like elements, rounded-edged menus, and pop-out navigation.
Users using the beta version have described it as a fresh and beautiful change; however, some have also expressed concerns that the transparency and poor contrast may make it difficult to read text on the screen.
Apple has also added several new features to this update, including a live translation facility, ‘Live Translation’, dynamic Lock screen options, custom snooze durations, one-handed camera mode, a new design of the Phone app, customization of polls and backgrounds in Messages, and a new Apple Games experience.
In addition, there are visual intelligence and other small but important changes.
According to the company, this update will be available on iPhone 11 or later models, while watchOS 26 will be released for Apple Watch Series 6, SE2, and Ultra models.
macOS Tahoe can be installed on Apple Silicon Max 2020 or later and some select 2019 Plus Intel models.
Similarly, iPadOS 26 will be available on iPad Pro m4, iPad Pro 3rd generation or later devices, iPad Air m2 and m3, iPad Air 3rd generation.
The version can be installed for iPad A16, iPad 8th generation or later, iPad mini A17 Pro, and iPad mini 5th generation or later devices.
Apple has also said that the Vision OS 26 update will be released for the Vision Pro headset, which will provide new designs and improved features in the VR and AR interfaces.
The company has instructed users to go to the General section of Settings on their iPhone and check for software updates to install the update.
However, some features will not be available immediately based on language or region.
