LAHORE (Kashmir English): Pakistani cricketer Asif Ali on Monday announced his retirement from international cricket. The batter called it the greatest honor of his life to represent the country.

Asif, a middle-order batter, represented Pakistan in 21 ODIs and 58 T20Is. He is known for his aggressive batting, and one of his famous successful campaigns was the 2021 T20 World Cup.

“Alhamdulillah, wearing the Pakistan jersey has been the greatest honour of my life and serving my country on the cricket field has been my proudest chapter,” he said in a statement, shared on X.

Asif Ali, 33, expressed gratitude to “his fans, teammates, and coaches, for their love, belief, and support through every high and low.”

“To my family and friends, who stood with me in moments of joy and in the deepest of trials, including the loss of my beloved daughter during the World Cup, your strength carried me forward,” he stated.

However, Ali announced that while he is retiring from international cricket, he will continue playing domestic and league cricket worldwide.
