LODHRAN, Pakistan (Kashmir English): Two passengers were reportedly killed and 20 others injured when five coaches of Karachi-bound Awam Express derailed near Lodhran Railway Station here on Saturday night.
The train was travelling from Peshawar to Karachi that met an accident near Lodhran Railway Station.
According to rescue sources, six bogies of the Awam Express derailed. Two passengers died and more than 20 people were injured, 6 of whom are reported to be in critical condition.
The injured were immediately shifted to the hospital, where an emergency has been declared.
Rescue operation underway
Rescue operation is underway after the accident. Relief teams are present at the scene and the process of removing the derailed bogies is continuing.
According to Railway officials, train traffic on the up and down tracks has been suspended due to the accident, which is feared to affect the schedules of other trains.
