RAWALPINDI (Kashmir English): The district administration on Tuesday announced a local public holiday in Rawalpindi district on Wednesday, August 13, ahead of the Marka-e-Haq and Independence Day celebrations.

The notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner, Hassan Waqar Cheema, declared a local holiday in Rawalpindi District on August 13, 2025.

All government offices, educational institutions, and some private organizations will be closed on the day. However, all emergency dealing departments/institutions/authorities will remain operational.

Earlier today, the Islamabad district administration announced a local public holiday in the federal capital on August 13.

All government offices, educational institutions, and some private organizations will be closed on the day, as per the official notification released by the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad.

The move will help make preparations ahead of the Marka-e-Haq and Independence Day celebrations as several events are planned across the city, including the main ceremony at Jinnah Sports Complex and an airshow by the Pakistan Air Force.

With these announcements, the residents of the twin cities will benefit from two consecutive holidays, including on Thursday, August 14, 2025, on the occasion of Independence Day.
