ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has announced a reduction in electricity prices under monthly and quarterly fuel adjustments for consumers across the country.

In a notification issued on Thursday, Nepra has approved a reduction of Rs 1.89 per unit under the quarterly adjustment for April to June 2025. The revised rates will apply to all consumers of power distribution companies (DISCOs), including K-Electric.

The new rates will be effective for three months of August, September, and October, and the consumers will get an expected relief of Rs 55.87 billion.

The tariff cut will not be applicable to lifeline and prepaid consumers, the notification added. These categories of consumers are typically covered under separate subsidy frameworks or billing mechanisms.

The decision came after electricity distribution companies requested to reduce electricity prices in the quarterly adjustment, on which the regulatory authority held a hearing on August 4, 2025.

The proposal was evaluated under the quarterly tariff adjustment mechanism, which allows periodic revisions based on changes in fuel costs and other economic indicators.

Electricity prices revised under monthly adjustment

Nepra has also reduced electricity prices in the monthly adjustment for the rest of the country, except K-Electric consumers.

The authority has reduced prices by 78 paisa per unit in the monthly adjustment, a notification of which has also been issued.

According to the notification, the power rates have been reduced in the monthly adjustment for June 2025, and consumers will get relief in their August bills.
