ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Anti-Corruption Circle Islamabad has arrested three officers from the Ministry of Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan for their alleged involvement in the illegal allotment of plots reserved for Kashmiri refugees in Kashmir Colony near Rathian in Jhelum district.

The arrested officers include Administrative Officer Nasir Hayat, Maqsood Ahmed, and Assistant Account Officer Abdullah Khan.

The FIA’s investigation uncovered that the Ministry of Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Affairs had allotted plots in Kashmir Colony specifically for Kashmiri refugees, but plots were allotted to non-Kashmiri refugees through illegal means.

It was discovered that registries and transfer deeds related to these plots were illegally made to unauthorized persons through alleged connivance with the Punjab Revenue Department staff.

Furthermore, the competent forum’s approval for the transfer/registration of these plots was not obtained from the federal government.

According to the FIA officials, a case was registered against the accused officers, including Nasir Hayat, Maqsood Ahmed, former Tehsildar Jhelum Nadeem Barth, and current Tehsildar Sheikh Jamil, upon completion of the inquiry.

The FIA said that the team, led by Deputy Director Afzal Khan Niazi, has initiated an investigation into the matter and arrested the three above-mentioned officials. Raids are currently underway to apprehend officers of the Punjab Revenue Department involved in the scandal.
