President Azad Kashmir encourages china to invest in the region

Muzaffarabad: President Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry has invited China to invest in different sectors of the state on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, 21st of January 2025, the president of AJK met the director of China’s Yunnan Sunny Road and Bridge Company, Mr Li Ping.

In the meeting, the president briefed him about the numerous investment opportunities in the region.

Previously known as The Construction Team of Yunnan Highway Administration Bureau. The Yunnan Sunny Road and Bridge Company is a construction company.

Talking to Mr Li the President has asserted that in addition to its stunning scenery, AJK is rich in natural resources. Making it a suitable investment ground.

In response the President received a thorough briefing from Mr Li regarding the goals, objectives, and operations of his company, which specialises in tunnels, highways, and other construction-related fields.

In the past the company has played an important role in assisting the developmental construction in Pakistan. The company is known for offering labor, equipment, and technical consultancy assistance for the Peshawar Karachi Motorway (PKM). Also for The China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects as Gwadar International Airport and Gwadar East Bay Motorway.

Beijing has already stated its intention of investing in AJK through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor initiative. These investments include the development of the M-4 highway, a Special Economic Zone at Mirpur, and the hydro-power projects in Karot and Kohala.

The Chinese Company has shown its interest and similar desire which has been appreciated by the President. President AJK briefed the Chinese business figure who was in attendance about the region’s potential for tourism. As well as its abundant supply of natural resources and valuable stones, including rubies and other minerals. This can also cause a boost in the Pakistan-China relationship.

In the past too, it has been claimed that the liberated land is the ideal location for investment. Also citing the area’s tranquil and investment-friendly climate.
