KOTLI (Kashmir English): The police has arrested a suspect accused for allegedly raping a minor child in Kotli district, a police official said on Wednesday.
As per details, SHO Police Station Sarsawa, Shehzad Ahmed, along with his team, arrested Afraz, a resident of Piran Sayah, and remanded him in custody for sexually assaulting a minor child.
Police have said that the investigation has been initiated against the accused under section 337 A (1) of the Azad Penal Code.
In another development, the police on Wednesday recovered 14 bottles, containing 32 liters of alcohol, near Bypass Road in Kotli.
Police said that they received the information about the presence of notorious drug dealer Abid, resident of Chaudhry Market Kotli, and Shakir, resident of Shahi Mohalla Kotli, with a large quantity of alcohol.
“On receiving this information, Zohaib Tahir, in-charge of ADU Kotli, along with a police team, raided the premises,” a police official said. However, seeing the police party, the accused threw the alcohol on the spot and fled, taking advantage of the darkness of the night.
A case has been registered against the accused under the Narcotics Act, and an investigation has been started. Police has said that raids are being conducted at various places to arrest the accused.
