MANSOURA, Egypt (Kashmir English): An elderly Egyptian woman has proven the famous proverb that no bounds of age or time could stop a person from acquiring knowledge in real life.
According to foreign media reports, the 83-year-old Egyptian woman obtained a PhD degree in Sociology.

Amal Ismail Abdo set a magnificent example of perseverance, courage, and determination by obtaining PhD degree in Sociology from the Faculty of Arts at Mansoura University.
On July 5, Amal Abdo was awarded a doctorate degree for her research thesis by the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Arts, Mansoura University.
According to the report, Amal Abdo’s educational journey began relatively late in life. She passed the middle school examination at the age of 38, however, a cancer diagnosis interrupted her education further.
After recovering from the illness, she restarted her education and completed high school at the age of 68. Three years later, she enrolled in the Department of Sociology at the Faculty of Arts, Mansoura University.
In the year 2023, she obtained a Master’s degree with distinction from the same institution, after which she continued her PhD journey.
On July 6, the Governor of Dakahlia Province, Major General Tariq Marzouk, met with Amal Abdo at the governorate headquarters to pay tribute to her outstanding success.
According to a statement issued by the governorate, this honour was given in recognition of her extraordinary struggle and overcoming life’s challenges.
The Governor presented the governorate’s shield to Amal Abdo and said that her success reflects the values of knowledge, determination, and steadfastness.
The Governor said that Amal Abdo’s example is a message of hope for the younger generation which also proves that age never becomes an obstacle in the way of dreams.
On this occasion, Amal expressed gratitude, saying that this honour received from the Governor is a great source of encouragement for her and a message for all those individuals who strive to fulfill their dreams regardless of age or circumstances.
