SWAT (Kashmir English): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Dr Amjad Ali from Swat has come under scrutiny over his reported foreign travel record, with documents cited in reports indicating that he travelled abroad 51 times over a period of 13 years.
According to the documents, Dr Amjad Ali made only three foreign trips before the 2013 general elections. Between 2013 and 2024, the reported number of trips rose to 49, raising questions about the frequency and purpose of his overseas visits.
His reported destinations include Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, China, the United States, Turkey, Australia and the United Kingdom.
The frequent travel has prompted questions about the purpose of these visits and the source of funds used to cover the expenses. However, the available information does not establish whether the trips were personally funded, official visits or related to other activities.
Sources cited in the report have also alleged that inquiries are underway into suspected benami properties abroad, possible corruption and alleged links to drug trafficking. These remain allegations and require verification through official investigative findings.
The reported travel record has renewed questions about transparency and accountability among political figures. Any allegations of financial misconduct must be assessed based on verified evidence and the findings of the relevant authorities.
