Govt to induct 500 electric buses, double-deckers into transport system

KARACHI (Kashmir English): Sindh government is going to induct 50 double-decker buses and 500 new electric buses into the transport system.

The move, the officials said, will bring significant improvement to the province’s public transport. Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon chaired a key meeting regarding land allocation for bus depots and the transport plan for various public transport projects.

Officials briefed the minister on land requirements for public transport projects, including parking and operational facilities for buses.

On the occasion, Memon directed officials to immediately complete the identification and allocation of suitable land for bus depots.

He also instructed all deputy commissioners to identify vacant government land in their respective districts for the establishment of modern bus depots for mass transit projects.

The minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing citizens with modern, comfortable, eco-friendly, world-class travel facilities.

He said the government aims to bring the new buses onto the roads for public service as soon as possible, and that ongoing projects in the public transport sector will bring revolutionary changes to the province’s transport system.
