ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is going to chair a cabinet meeting today via video link at 10 AM to discuss the approval of the 27th Constitutional Amendment.

According to sources, the Prime Minister will chair the federal cabinet meeting via video link from Baku.

Sources said that the government has accepted the Pakistan Peoples Party’s proposals regarding constitutional amendments. The draft of the 27th Constitutional Amendment will be approved in the federal cabinet.

Opposition rejects draft of 27th Constitutional Amendment

On the other hand, the opposition has rejected the draft of the 27th Amendment. Opposition parties in the Senate, after their meeting, stated in a joint communiqué that the ruling Muslim League-N, Pakistan Peoples’ Party, and allied parties are bulldozing legislation, and the draft of the constitutional amendment is being hidden from the opposition.

Earlier, while briefing the media after the meeting of the Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the Pakistan Peoples’ Party, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari said that there was an agreement on three points of the constitutional amendment in the CEC meeting.

Bilawal Bhutto said that the Pakistan Peoples’ Party will support the amendment to Article 243, and constitutional courts should be established. Other matters of the Charter of Democracy should also be considered.

It is to be noted that on Friday, the cabinet meeting was postponed indefinitely due to the lack of a reasonable response from the Pakistan Peoples’ Party.

The Pakistan Peoples Party’s CEC has also announced support for additional points, on which the Prime Minister has called a cabinet meeting.
