LAHORE (Kashmir English): The government has decided to further intensify the action against citizens violating traffic rules in Lahore. Chief Traffic Officer Abdul Rahim Shirazi has directed his subordinates to increase the number of fines.
According to the details, the Lahore Chief Traffic Officer has directed the traffic police officers and wardens to increase action against traffic rule violations. In this regard, the CTO has also sent a regular letter to the subordinates.
The letter pointed out that the number of fines issued by the traffic police has decreased compared to last year, due to which the officials have been instructed to increase the speed of issuing challans.
According to the CTO, challans against driving without a driving license, underage drivers, violation of fitness certificates, and vehicles emitting smoke have also decreased.
The wardens have been given 15 days to meet the set targets, while departmental action will be taken against officials who do not complete the target.
On the other hand, a proposal has also been made to further tighten the procedure for collecting e-challan arrears. CTO Abdul Rahim Shirazi had sent a formal letter to DIG Traffic Punjab and the Punjab Information Technology Board in this regard.
According to the proposal, it has been considered to make the provision of certain government facilities to those who have not paid the e-challan amount conditional on payment of arrears.
These include issuance of duplicate identity cards, renewal of passports, registration of purchase, sale and transfer of vehicles, and some facilities of Police Khidmat Markazes.
