ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Zilhaj moon has been sighted, Eid-ul-Adha 2025 will be celebrated on June 7 all across Pakistan.

A meeting of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee was held in Islamabad on Tuesday to determine the sighting of the Zilhaj moon.

The session was led by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad and attended by members of both central and zonal moon-sighting committees, along with officials from Suparco, the Meteorological Department, and other concerned institutions.

Following the meeting, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad spoke to the media and confirmed that the Zilhaj moon had not been sighted anywhere across the country.

As a result, he announced that Eidul Adha will be observed in Pakistan on Saturday, June 7.

Experts from Suparco had already noted that chances of seeing the new moon this evening were “next to none” based on astronomical data. At the time of sunset, the moon was just 11 hours old, making it extremely difficult to see.

Eid-ul-Adha, also known as the “Festival of Sacrifice,” is one of the most important Islamic holidays.

Muslims around the world celebrate it in remembrance of the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to Allah.

On this day, Muslims offer special prayers and sacrifice animals such as goats, cows, or camels. The meat is then distributed among family, friends, and the poor.

The citizens have been to make proper arrangements for animal sacrifices and to follow health and safety guidelines during the Eid holidays.
