PESHAWAR (Kashmir English): The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan on Wednesday ordered the removal of Ali Amin Gandapur as chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and nominated Sohail Afridi to replace him.

Following his directive, Gandapur resigned from the CM office, and Afridi is expected to take charge in the coming days after the voting in the KP Assembly.

As per the details, Sohail Afridi is elected as a member of the provincial assembly (MPA) from PK-70, constituency from Khyber district, his hometown.

In the current government, Afridi initially served as Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Communication and Works. Later, he was appointed as Minister for Higher Education.

He has been an active member of PTI for years and previously headed the Insaf Students Federation (ISF) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for a considerable period.

Afridi’s political journey within PTI has been marked by steady organisational growth and close association with the party’s student and youth wings.

PTI’s top leadership confirmed the decision to remove Gandapur amid internal differences over governance and policy direction.
