ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued important security and account recovery instructions for WhatsApp hacked accounts.
According to the PTA, if a WhatsApp account is hacked, immediately delete the app, reinstall it, and register your mobile number.
The WhatsApp hacked account can be recovered using the verification code received on the mobile number.
The PTA said that enabling Two-Step Verification may be useful to prevent unauthorized access in the future.

The authority also advised users to avoid suspicious links and files, change mobile and app security passwords, run antivirus scans, and contact WhatsApp support immediately in case of any unusual activity.
The PTA says that by taking a few simple precautions, users can not only restore hacked accounts but also protect their data and privacy.
BEEP Application
Pakistan is preparing to launch BEEP, a new secure messaging application for government officials, in the coming months, modelled on the widely used Chinese ‘WeChat’ platform.
The app has been developed locally and is expected to begin rolling out in phases within the next two months, starting with federal ministries and their attached departments.
“The app is almost ready for rollout, and the project will meet its deadline of June 30, 2026,” the National Assembly Standing Committee on IT & Telecom was informed on Tuesday.
According to the CEO of the NITB, the BEEP will be integrated with the federal e-Office system, allowing officials to exchange messages, share documents and coordinate workflows within government institutions.
The app features end-to-end encryption for text messages, voice calls and video communications, making it suitable for sensitive official discussions, he added.
