Weekly inflation rises again in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Weekly inflation in the country has once again increased, pushing the overall annual inflation rate to 3.53.

According to the weekly inflation report issued by the Federal Bureau of Statistics, inflation rose 0.07 percent this week.

The report says that prices of 16 essential items increased during the week, whereas 13 essential items became cheaper. However, prices of 22 items remained steady.

This week, tomatoes turned dearer by 57.03 percent, garlic by 2.61 percent, and sugar by 2.23 percent.

Banana prices went up by 0.72 percent, while tea became 0.59 percent costlier. The prices of diesel, beef, cooking oil, LPG, and firewood also went up.

Onions became cheaper by 12.38 per cent and chicken by 8.07 per cent during the week under review, while prices of potatoes, flour, eggs, moong dal, and chana dal also fell.
