PESHAWAR (Kashmir English): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced week-long school holidays in all government and private educational institutions in the winter zone (mountainous) districts of the province.
The KP Elementary and Secondary Education Department has issued a notification in this regard.
The notification stated that, given the “impending threats of cloudbursts, flash flooding, landslides all winter zone Schools shall remain closed with effect from August 19 to August 25 (one week).
The holiday has been announced as a precautionary measure to safeguard the lives of students, teachers, and school staff, the notification added.
The district administrations of Abbottabad and Mansehra also announced the closure of government and private schools in view of the threat of heavy rains and floods.
On the other hand, all schools in the Murree district of Punjab will remain closed for two days on August 19 and 20.
The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (government) has also declared five-day school holidays across the region from August 19 to August 23, 2025.
The holidays have been granted due to the persistent heavy rainfall across Azad Kashmir, which may cause potential flash floods and landslides.
