Vivo launches X Fold 6 on much cheaper price than expected

BEJIENG (Kashmir English): Vivo just launched the X Fold 6 in China. This is the successor to years X Fold 5. People thought the X Fold 6 would cost around $1500 because of the global memory crisis.

Vivo surprised everyone by launching it at a much lower price, even with all the upgrades.

The new foldable phone has two upgrades. It has a 200MP ZEISS camera and a 7,000mAh silicon-carbon battery. It also has updated displays, a MediaTek processor, and better multitasking features.

Display of Vivo X Fold

  • The Vivo X Fold6 has a 6.51-inch AMOLED cover display.
  • The aspect ratio is 20.3:9. It has a 120Hz refresh rate.
  • The inner AMOLED display is 8.02 inches.
  • It has a square 4:3.7 aspect ratio and also supports a 120Hz refresh rate.
  • Vivo says both screens can get really bright up to 5,000 nits.
  • The phone is protected against dust, water, and high-pressure water jets.
  • It comes in Blue Hole, Salt Lake, and Polar Night colours.
  • There’s also a Black Gold Edition with the top memory configuration.

Internals and Software

  • The X Fold6 uses the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super Edition chipset.
  • It has up to 16GB of LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage.
  • The phone runs 6 Fold, which is based on Android 16.
  • Vivo added a feature called Atomic Workbench.
  • This lets users run up to five apps at the same time, each in its own window.

Cameras

  • The rear camera system has a 200MP ZEISS camera.
  • It uses Samsung’s 1/1.4-inch HPB sensor.
  • There’s also a 50MP camera and a 50MP telephoto camera
  • The telephoto camera has a 3x zoom.
  • The phone also works with the ZEISS Teleconverter G2 accessory.

Battery and Pricing

  • The Vivo X Fold6 has a 7,000mAh silicon-carbon battery.
  • This is the battery in a foldable smartphone so far
  • It supports 80W wired charging and 40W wireless charging.
  •  In China, the price starts at around $1,177 for the 12GB/256GB model.
  • The standard 16GB/1TB version costs around $1,618.
  •  There are also imaging kits available.
  • Vivo hasn’t announced the price or availability outside of China.
