The veteran journalist passed away at the age of 84 after battling illness for several months.

In a statement, the Karachi Press Club (KPC) hailed her as a true icon and veteran of Pakistani journalism who left behind a legacy that will continue to inspire generations of journalists.

KPC President Fazil Jamili and Secretary Sohail Afzal Khan called her an “institution” whose “unwavering commitment to truth” and “relentless pursuit of social justice” paved the way for generations of journalists, particularly women in a male-dominated field.

She was a pioneer, breaking barriers and paving the way for women in a field often dominated by men, the statement read.

The Karachi Press Club extends its heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.  “Her absence will be deeply felt, but her contributions to journalism and society will never be forgotten. May her soul rest in eternal peace.”
