WASHINGTON (Kashmir English): US Vice President JD Vancestated that the US is open to an agreement with Iran, but Iran must show flexibility regarding its nuclear program and reduce its nuclear enrichment capacity.

In an interview with a news agency, US Vice President JD Vance said that for the conflict to end, Iran must scale back its nuclear enrichment capabilities. It remains unclear how Iran makes its decisions.

Vance remarked that mere assurances regarding a future reduction in nuclear activities would not suffice; if Iran does not seek nuclear weapons, why is there a need for 60% enriched fuel?

He added that if Iran wishes to prove it will not build nuclear weapons, it should refrain from producing highly enriched fuel.

The US Vice President reiterated that the US remains ready for a deal with Iran, provided Iran demonstrates flexibility regarding its nuclear program.

He noted that Washington does not know who holds the decision-making authority in Tehran; while the US is negotiating with the Iranian President and Foreign Minister, it is unclear how much actual power they wield within Iran’s power structure. The situation has become further complicated following the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The US Vice President stated that he has consulted with field commanders regarding the situation on the battlefield and confirmed there is no shortage of weaponry for a potential conflict with Iran.

He observed that while Iran occasionally targets commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, it has largely failed to halt energy exports through the strait.

Additionally, he mentioned that he has not yet made a decision regarding a run for the presidency.
