WASHINGTON (Kashmir English): The US State Department has launched a new online reporting system allowing the public to submit information about suspected US visa fraud or misuse, a move that could affect visa applicants and holders, including those from Pakistan.
According to the State Department, members of the public can now provide information about potential visa fraud or misuse through its dedicated online fraud-reporting form. The department says reports will be reviewed for possible investigation and appropriate enforcement action.
The new reporting system covers several categories, including visa application fraud, forged or counterfeit visas, misuse of visas and other forms of visa-related fraud. The Department of State’s Diplomatic Security Service also allows information to be submitted anonymously, although providing contact details may allow investigators to seek additional information.
US officials have warned that visa fraud may involve the submission of false or forged documents and other attempts to obtain or use a visa through misrepresentation. The State Department has said it takes allegations of visa fraud and misuse seriously and will take appropriate action to enforce US immigration laws.
The department’s broader visa-fraud guidance also warns applicants about fraudulent third-party services that falsely claim they can secure US visas or other immigration benefits in exchange for money.
Applicants are advised to use official US government channels and remain cautious when sharing personal information with unofficial visa-service providers.
The development comes amid expanded US visa screening and vetting measures. On September 18, the State Department announced that, effective October 1, online presence reviews would be expanded to additional nonimmigrant visa categories, including visas for foreign media representatives and certain USMCA professionals and their dependents.
The State Department has urged anyone with credible information about suspected visa fraud or misuse to submit the details through its official reporting system for review.
