NEW YORK (Kashmir English): Video-sharing platform TikTok is expanding the scope of Direct Messages (DM) for users in the coming weeks by adding voice messages and image-sharing features.
According to a foreign news agency, the update from the TikTok company is to make the platform a better social space. So that users can connect with friends and communities with short-form video content.
According to company spokesperson Joshell Jones, these new features will be available to all TikTokers who have access to DMs.
The spokesperson clarified that these changes will not be for younger users. Direct messaging will only be available to users who are 16 years of age or older.
TikTok confirmed that this change will be gradually released over the next few weeks.
Earlier, TikTok had deleted around 25 million videos shared by Pakistanis in the first quarter of 2025, according to a report by the company.
Millions of videos are shared on TikTok daily, the content of which is reviewed under the principles of the Community Guidelines.

According to the report, TikTok has deleted over 210.19 million videos on the breach of community guidelines, which makes the 0.9 percent of total videos uploaded on the platform
Of the deleted videos, more than 184.3 million were identified and deleted by automated systems, of which more than 7.5 million were restored after further review.
