MIRPUR (Kashmir English): Police have arrested three suspects in connection with an attack on the convoy of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and election candidate Chaudhry Yasin in Chadroi, Kotli, following clashes between protesters and security personnel accompanying the convoy.
According to police sources, the arrested suspects have been identified as Zahid Hussain, Muhammad Mehtab and Zeeshan Ahmed. Authorities allege that the three were involved in setting fire to a Vigo vehicle that was part of Chaudhry Yasin’s convoy during the incident.
The police investigation has revealed that the three miscreants who set fire to the vehicle during the clash between Chaudhry Yasin’s guards and the protesters are active members of the JAAC.
During this, provocative slogans were raised and a vehicle in Chaudhry Yasin’s convoy was set on fire by the miscreants.
After this violent incident, there was severe tension in the area. Taking strict notice of the incident, the police traced the arsonists with the help of CCTV footage and available evidence.
During the operation, the police arrested the three main accused who set the vehicle on fire, who were proven to be affiliated with the Public Action Committee.
Police officials say that no mercy will be shown to anyone who takes law and order into their own hands and attacks political leaders, while raids are also being carried out to arrest other people involved.
