MIRPUR (Kashmir English): Commissioner Income Tax Department South Syed Ansar Ali has initiated a crackdown against brand outlets who were not complying with AJK Point-of-Sale (POS) system in Mirpur district.
As per details, the Income Tax Department Task Force has closed two outlets of Stylo, a women’s shoe brand, in Mirpur for not complying with Azad Kashmir’s tax collecting system. The outlets were collecting tax from the customer but were not depositing with Kashmir’s Revenue Department.
The brand alleged that their tax collection has been linked with Islamabad’s Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR), but upon checking, it was revealed that the QR code being provided by the business store was not verified by FBR, the press release from the department said.
The Income Tax Department Task Force, along with Deputy Commissioner Mahmood Alam, Inspector Luqman Jaral, Inspector Syed Atif Ali, Constables Income Tax Ghulam Ghaus, Ghaffar Sami, conducted the operation.
Earlier on Monday, Limelite was closed and the AJK government’s tax collecting system was installed.
The team, under the supervision of the Commissioner Income Tax Department, has accelerated the work of installing POS AJK at brands’ outlets across the district, with recently installing the system in Dominos and Bata.
Furthermore, Additional Assistant Commissioner Mirpur along with Mirpur’s Thothal Police Station, inspected various tailoring shops in the area.
The officials, on the special instructions of Deputy Commissioner Mirpur Chaudhry Yasir Riaz, fined Rs. 54,000 and arrested a tailor for not displaying the rate list. All tailors are warned to display the rate list in their shops.
