MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Senior Judge of the High Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Justice Syed Shahid Bahar, will take oath as the Acting Chief Justice of the High Court on May 12, 2026.
This solemn oath-taking ceremony will be held tomorrow at 11 am.
It should be noted that the current Chief Justice of the High Court, Justice Sardar Liaquat, is on leave. During his absence, Senior Judge Justice Syed Shahid Bahar will perform judicial and administrative duties as the Acting Chief Justice.
The Government of Azad Kashmir has already issued the formal notification of his appointment to this post; however, its legal implementation will begin after the oath-taking tomorrow.
The notification issued by the Law Department said that this appointment has been made under Article 43-A of the Interim Constitution of 1974 and will take effect after the appointee takes the oath.
A large number of senior judicial and administrative officials, prominent political figures, representatives of the legal community, and important personalities from different walks of life are expected to attend the oath-taking ceremony to be held tomorrow. After taking the oath, Justice Syed Shahid Bihar will immediately assume his new responsibilities.
