SRINAGAR (Kashmir English): The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has said that sustainable peace in South Asia hinges on granting Kashmiris their UN-mandated right to self-determination.

In a statement, it said that Kashmir dispute remains the biggest obstacle to lasting peace in the region.

According to APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas Indian jingoism and intransigence continue to block the path to a peaceful resolution of Kashmir.

Although, he welcomed the ceasefire between India and Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC), yet warned that the RSS-driven Modi regime’s militarism is pushing South Asia towards instability and conflict.

“India’s inflexible and aggressive stance has made Kashmir a dangerous nuclear flashpoint,” the statement warned and urged the United Nations to act decisively and uphold its own resolutions to end the decades-old Kashmir conflict.

The APHC spokesman regretted that India is hell bent upon suppressing the Kashmiris’ voice for their internationally recognized right to self-determination by dint of its military might and communal agenda.

Situation in occupied Kashmir grim

The statement said that the prevailing situation in occupied Kashmir was grim and alarming, adding that every city, town and village in the territory has been turned into a military camp where Indian forces personnel were committing unspeakable crimes against innocent people, especially the youth.

APHC urged India to resolve the Kashmir dispute through meaningful talks in accordance with UN resolutions and aspirations of the oppressed people of Kashmir.

Highlighting the prevailing grim situation in the occupied region, the APHC said India’s Modi government has intensified efforts to brutalize and colonize the Kashmiris through violent military operations, killings, arrests, sealing of properties, bulldozing of houses, termination of govt employees and other heinous crimes.

APHC maintained, the Indian brutalities cannot intimidate the Kashmiri people into submission and they will continue their just struggle till it reaches its logical conclusion.

The spokesman maintained that lacs of people have offered sacrifices for the freedom movement and that the Kashmiris were determined to continue the sacred mission of the martyrs against all odds until the realization of their cherished goal.

The spokesman said that the BJP regime was targeting the Kashmiris with extreme kind of political vengeance for challenging India’s illegal occupation of their motherland.

The statement pointed out, it is high time for the world community to intervene and pressurize India to stop its barbarities against the Kashmiris and resolve the Kashmir dispute according to the relevant resolutions of the United Nations.
