LAHORE (Kashmir English): The Sri Lankan side has been dealt a big blow ahead of the upcoming tri-nationODI series with Pakistan and England, as the team’s opener batter, Pathum Nissanka, has been ruled out of the tournament due to an injury.

The Sri Lankan newspaper Daily Mirror claims Nissanka suffered a left hamstring injury on the England tour and is not fit.

After undergoing a medical check-up, he has not yet been given medical clearance for the next series and will not be able to take to the field against Pakistan and England.

After Nissanka’s absence, the Sri Lanka Cricket Board has reportedly selected Lahiru Udara as a replacement for Nissanka in the team.

Lahiru Udara will henceforth be a part of the Sri Lanka squad for the ODI series with Pakistan and England.

Pathum Nissanka’s injury is a big setback for Sri Lanka, as he can hit the ball hard and provide a solid start as an opener.

In his absence, the Sri Lankan team may be forced to adjust its batting order.

It should be noted that the seven-match tri-nation ODI series in Pakistan is set to begin on October 18. Featuring hosts Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and England, the matches will be held in Rawalpindi and Lahore.
