Special training session on first aid, fire safety held at University of Poonch

RAWALAKOT (Kashmir English): The University of Poonch Rawalakot’s Department of Pharmacy in collaboration with Pharma Galaxy, and Rescue 1122, organized a comprehensive training session on First Aid, Fire Safety, and Water Rescue for students and staff.

Rescue 1122 experts provided hands-on training covering bleeding control, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and other essential first aid techniques.

Participants also received specialized training on fire rescue, evacuation procedures, and safety measures. The rescue team further demonstrated equipment used in water rescue and guided the attendees on their practical application.

Live demonstrations and interactive exercises enabled participants to gain valuable skills for effectively handling emergency situations.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Awan, Dean Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, emphasized that Pakistan, particularly Azad Kashmir, is highly vulnerable to natural disasters exacerbated by climate change.

First aid saves precious lives

He underscored the significance of such training programs in saving precious lives and stressed the need to incorporate disaster preparedness and safety education into academic curricula.

He also commended Dr. Izharullah for his efforts in organizing and facilitating this vital training session.

Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar, Chairman Department of Pharmacy, also addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of equipping students with practical knowledge in emergency response.

He encouraged participants to fully benefit from such learning opportunities.

The University administration expressed gratitude to Rescue 1122 Rawalakot for this vital training session and reaffirmed its commitment to regularly arranging such capacity-building programs, enabling students and staff to respond effectively in times of crisis.
