PMD issues travel warning as smog expected to increase across Pakistan

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Pakistan Meteorological Department has warned that smog and dense fog will continue and may further increase in the country’s plain areas in the next week.

The Met Office reported that the ongoing spell of dry weather is adding to worsening visibility conditions, especially in northeastern and southern Punjab, including Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Gujranwala, Jhelum, Bhakkar, Mianwali, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Sahiwal, Multan, Khanewal, Layyah, Kot Addu, Bahawalpur, and adjacent districts.

Similar weather conditions are also expected in the areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, Swabi, Mardan, and Dera Ismail Khan, along with their surrounding areas. In upper Sindh, cities like Sukkur and Rohri will also face low visibility.

The Met Office further explained that the intensities of smog and fog will mostly be experienced in the early morning, thus warning the residents to travel with much care.
