Six Pakistani players qualify for quarterfinals in Asian junior Squash Championship

SEOUL (Kashmir English): Six Pakistani players reached the quarterfinals of different categories in the Asian Junior Squash Championship.

On the second day of the ongoing Asian Junior Squash Championship in Korea, the pre-quarterfinal matches were played in which Pakistani players performed brilliantly.

Nine Pakistani players were in action in different categories, out of which six players achieved success.

In the U-19 pre-quarterfinal, Abdullah Nawaz defeated India’s Tawanit Singh Mundra. Abdullah Nawaz’s winning score was 4-11, 5-11 and 6-11. However, in the U-19, Pakistan’s Anas Shah was defeated by India’s Yusha Nafees 2-3.

In the U-15, Pakistan’s Ahmed Rayan Khalil defeated India’s second seed Shreyas Jha and top seed Noman Khan also reached the quarterfinals by defeating Malaysia’s Muhammad Afwat Zulfikari.

In the Under-13 category, Pakistan’s top seed Sohail Adnan defeated Malaysia’s Mayral Fayed, while in the Under-17 category, Umar Arif was defeated by Indian players Subhash.

On the other hand, in the girls’ event, Pakistani sisters Sehrish Ali and Mahnoor Ali reached the quarterfinals, however, Mahnoor and Sehrish’s elder sister Mehwish faced defeat in the Girls’ Under-17 category.

Mehwish Ali was defeated by Chong He Ling in the pre-quarterfinals.

In the Girls’ Under-15 category, Sehrish Ali defeated third seed Chiu Ho Ching of Hong Kong. Sehrish’s winning score was 14-12, 11-6, 6-11 and 11-7.

In the Under-13 girls’ pre-quarterfinals, Mahnoor Ali defeated Hong Kong’s Cheung Hee Myra. Mahnoor won 11-8, 11-2 and 11-7.
