MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Cooking ghee from six companies sold in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) was found to be substandard, leading to a fine of one lakh on each company and a ban on sales.
Ghee samples obtained
According to details, multiple oil and ghee samples were obtained from Kotli and sent for laboratory analysis.
In light of the received analytical reports, six products from various companies failed the safety and quality parameters.
In light of the laboratory reports, Abid Banaspati, Safrah Banaspati, Kisan Sunflower, Zaiqa Oil, Mehreen Banaspati, and Al-Hamza Banaspati have been declared substandard.
In light of the analytical reports, under the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Food Authority Act 2017, a fine of one hundred thousand rupees was imposed on each of the companies, and the sale of the rejected batches of these products within Azad Kashmir has been banned.
Secretary Food Authority, Abdul Hameed Kiyani, has instructed all Food Safety officers to immediately seize the mentioned oil and ghee and submit a report.
He said the adulteration mafia would be dealt with an iron hand, and indiscriminate actions would continue to ensure the provision of safe and quality food for the public.
It is worth noting that even before this, several products in Azad Kashmir were declared substandard, but companies continue to supply substandard items to the public under new names.
