Shakarparian Tigers stand winner at Dheerkot Cricket Festival in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Dheerkot cricket festival held in Islamabad concluded with Shakarparian Tigers emerging as victorious.

Shakarparian Tigers easily defeated Kashmir Lovers Kohala by 8 wickets in the final match.

It was a memorable moment for cricket enthusiasts; full of excitement and devotion when the final match of Dheerkot Premier League (DPL) Season Three concluded in a grand manner.

Shakarparian Tigers crowned themselves champions of the tournament with their outstanding performance, also winning the hearts of fans.

A total of 16 teams participated in this annual tournament, showcasing their skills in exciting and thrilling matches that lasted for two days.

All tournament matches were held at the ground located in G-7/2 area of Islamabad, where excellent arrangements were made for cricket fans.

Arrangements for cricket lovers

Live commentary, live match broadcasts, and special seating arrangements for spectators made this event a memorable experience.

The tournament was held in memory of the late Zulfiqar Ali Zulfi, a renowned cricketer from Azad Kashmir, who dedicated his life to the promotion of cricket and the training of youth.

At the closing ceremony, rich tributes were paid to the services of the late Zulfiqar Ali Zulfi. Speakers remembered his personality, love for the game, and his guidance for the youth in golden words.

A special moment of silence was observed in his memory, and a special prayer was arranged for him. During the proceedings, the atmosphere was heavy with emotions.

The president of Business Forum Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, Sardar Imran Aziz, was present at the closing ceremony.

Addressing as chief guest, he said, “Youth are our future, and it is the government’s responsibility to provide them with opportunities in sports”.

He paid tribute to all the players for presenting quality play and also paid homage to the young Zulfiqar Ali.

On this occasion, the host of the ceremony Raja Mahtab Ashraf, PML-N leader Raja Zakir, active youth leader Raja Fahim Akram, prominent journalist Sardar Abid Abbasi, central leader of Jamaat-e-Islami Sardar Javed, and National Press Club member Raja Abrar Khan expressed their views.

Awards for best batsman, best bowler, and man of the tournament were also given by the organizers, which further boosted the morale of the young players.

Chief organizer of the tournament, Raja Mahtab Ashraf Khan, speaking on the occasion, said that the purpose of Dheerkot Premier League is not only to provide healthy entertainment to the youth but also to highlight their hidden talents.
