LEEPA VALLEY (Kashmir English): To show support for the locals and the Pakistan Army, former Pakistani cricket player Shahid Afridi travelled to Leepa Valley, situated close to the Line of Control (LoC).

The villagers greeted him with great enthusiasm, garlanded him, and showered him with flower petals in a customary greeting.

During his visit, Shahid Afridi paid tribute at the local memorial, offering prayers for those who had sacrificed their lives to defend the motherland.

He also spent time with the youth at the Leepa cricket ground, where he handed out autographed bats and balls, sparking excitement among young cricket fans.

Speaking to the media, Shahid Afridi conveyed his gratitude on behalf of the people of Karachi and his own family.

He thanked the local military units, especially the Leepa Guards, and the residents of Leepa Valley for their brave response to enemy aggression.

He praised their courage and assured them that if India attempted further hostilities, a strong and united response would once again be delivered.

As a special act of kindness, Shahid Afridi met with people suffering from the recent clashes and provided financial assistance. He understood how tough things were for the people of Leepa Valley and praised their strength through hard times.

He further said that the local journalists have worked with truth and responsibility during the crisis. Shahid Afridi believes that the media workers in Leepa Valley showed real dedication and are worthy of being congratulated.

Shahid Afridi was presented with a wooden falcon sculpture carved from walnut wood by people from Leepa Valley, representing their admiration for him.

Former Pakistani cricket player Shahid Afridi is well-known for his aggressive bowling and explosive batting style. He played a lot of cricket in several formats, like as Tests, ODIs, and T20Is, and is known as “Boom Boom” Afridi for his strong hitting.

In addition, Afridi captained the Pakistani cricket team, which won the 2009 ICC World Twenty20 tournament. In addition to his accomplishments in cricket, Afridi is active in charitable endeavours, such as the Shahid Afridi Foundation.
