LAHORE (Kashmir English): Former captain and all-rounder, Shahid Afridi, is set to lead Pakistan Champions squad in the upcoming edition of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025. The tournament is scheduled to take place in the United Kingdom from July 18 to August 2, 2025.

Shahid Afridi, known worldwide as “Boom Boom”, will captain a star-studded lineup featuring some of Pakistan’s top former international players. His leadership and aggressive playing style are expected to give the Pakistan Champions a strong edge in the competition.

The team includes well-known names such as Shoaib Malik, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Wahab Riaz, Sharjeel Khan, Sohail Tanvir, Kamran Akmal, Aamer Yamin, Sohaib Maqsood, and Sohail Khan. With such a powerful lineup, fans are hopeful that Shahid Afridi and his squad will put on a thrilling show.

For the unversed, the WCL 2025 will be contested across four English venues: Edgbaston (Birmingham), County Ground (Northampton), Grace Road (Leicester), and Headingley (Leeds).

Six teams, India, Pakistan, Australia, England, South Africa, and the West Indies, will face off in a round-robin format, with the top four teams qualifying for the semi-finals.

The upcoming edition marks the second instalment of the WCL, following the inaugural tournament held in 2024, where the Indian team, led by the legendary Yuvraj Singh, emerged as champions.
