ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Senate passed the 27th Constitutional Amendment Bill on Monday with a two-thirds majority as 64 lawmakers voted in favour of the bill amid opposition boycott.

Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar moved the 59-clause bill into the Upper House of the Parliament. After sailing through the Senate, the government will now present the bill in the National Assembly for voting.

No member voted against it, as the opposition opted to boycott. However, from the opposition benches, the Awami National Party (ANP) senators, PTI-backed Saifullah Abro and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl’s (JUI-F) Ahmed Khan voted in favour of the amendment.
